- MICRODG-SP1: Development and experimentation of a microgrid integrated in the distri- bution network. The goal of the project is the design, installation, experimentation and validation of a microgrid integrated in the Electric Distribution Network. That microgrid will be located in the Technology Park of Bizkaia, in which several of the project partners have their headquarters.
- MICRODG-SP2: Development of Equipment and Systems for Low Voltage Microgrid envi- ronments. The goal is to develop equipment, solutions and/or tools, derived from the re- quirements specifications undertaken by the MICRODG SP2.
- MICRPODG-SP3: Development of a microgrid kit systems for the rural electrification. The main objective of the project is the design, development, implementation and experimen- tation, and validation of a generation management system named “KitMicrogrid” for the electrification of rural microgrids. The main task of the KitMicrogrdi will be to guarantee the electric supply in isolated areas or with weak electric distribution network.
- MOREMICROGRID: This project aims to continue the researches in the development of tools for the management and control of a MicroGrid.
- FENIX: Flexible Electricity Network to Integrate the expected “energy evolution”. The pro- ject’s goal is to achieve the transition of distributed generation from passive generation to active, contributing to the operation of electric networks and thus playing a similar role to the centralized generation.
- GAD: Active Management of the Demand. Project which study the available mechanisms for optimizing the domestic electric consumption.
- MUGIELEC: Project that joins the main actors of the electric sector in the Basque Country, in order to face the new necessities of the transition from the current mobility system, to a more sustainable one, which implies the electrification of transport.
- CIAD XXI: Smart Transformation Centre for the Distribution Automation. R&D project that will bring the necessary developments and technologies that, for the first time, will allow the automation of the Medium Voltage Electric Distribution, and the remote and smart detection of failures become a reality.
- SOA4AMI: Infrastructures and architectures for the integration of Smart Metering in a res- ponsible and efficient management of the consumptions. The target are the infrastructures and applications that will be closest to the final user, as well as their demand manage- ment.
- USER: By means of the integration of different technologies, the project aims to generate several products, processes and services focused on the improvement of the energy effi- ciency for the final user.
- SAREBAT: The main objective is to develop a new system for the distributed generation management. A new system will be developed for the generation monitoring at distribution level. New power electronics-based solutions will be developed, which will allow: On the one hand, stabilizing the grid voltage, and on the other hand, supporting the grid operation by means of their connection to several distributed generation units.
- ENERGOS: Research project for the development of knowledge and technologies for pro- gressing in the deployment of smart grids.
- REDES 2025: It is a Singular Project of Strategic Nature that aims to design, specify and develop technological solutions focused on power electronics-based applications, energy storing and superconductivity; as well as tools for the grid integration of distributed re- sources, and the data management of the future electric network.
- CITYCHARGE: Infrastructures for electric vehicle charge in urban areas. It is a continua- tion of the Singular Project of Strategic Nature “CityElec”, and its main goal is to develop and acquire technologies to address a comprehensive solution for the charge of electric vehicles, as well as its optimal integration in the electric network.
- PRICE: Joint Project on Intelligent Networks in the Henares Corridor. Aims to answer the technological challenges that electric systems face worldwide, such as the deterioration of infrastrcutrues and systems, the increase of energy demand or renewable sources, the integration of electric vehicles, and the necessity of improving the electric supply safety, while reducing the dependence of non-renewable energy sources. The initiative addresses different areas, which will cover the identified needs for the deployment of a smart network under the principles of efficiency, safety and sustainability. The project consists of four sub-projects: PRICE RED, PRICE GEN, PRICE GDI y PRICE GDE.
- RedNA: Isolated Neutral Grid. Is a project aimed to the development of technology solu- tions that improve the operation of the Isolated Neutral Grid to ensure a better quality of the power supply and a feasibility automation of this type of distribution network (smart- grid).
- PROINVER: Solutions for conversion and protection in electric scenarios highly entered by distributed generation. The project’s goal is to develop new and specific solutions for conversion and protection in scenarios with a high degree of distributed generation, which allow assuring the supply quality and safety.
- SECRET: Protection of the Critical Elementes of Remote-Controlled Electric Networks.
- Study of advanced technologies for remote-controlled systems and measurement of electric grids. These technologies will allow protecting the critical elements of these infrastructu- res, addressing the recommendations in safety issues established by the norms.
- MIRED-CON: Renewable distributed Microgeneration and control. The project consists in the installation of advanced measurement and control infrastructures, in a grid planned to be energy self-managed. This new grid will become a reference for future distribution networks.
- OPEN meter: Open Public Extended Network Metering. The Project will develop an open and standard infrastructure for muli-energy meters, ensuring the interoperability and the- refore benefiting the consumers.
- ADDRESS: Active Distribution networks with full integration of Demand and distributed energy RESourceS. Development of new architectures for active networks based in distri- buted intelligence along the grid, specially addressing the final users.
- E-DIANA: Embedded Systems for Energy Efficient Buildings. Project focused in the inte- gration of energy efficiency innovations in houses and buildings. The project foresees two concepts regarding buildings management: The Cell and the Macrocell
- GRID4EU: The project’s goal is the implementation of 6 pilot projects related to smart- grids, coordinated by international distribution companies. These pilot experiences will test new concepts and technologies that will allow overcoming the barriers of smartgrids, therefore contributing to the European objectives for 2020.
Future plans
- AIncreasing the number of nodes that can be processed (to simulate more complex networks)
- Introducing the possibility of performing tests with Sampled Values (up to 8 analogue channels) for process Bus.
- Increasing the accuracy of tests with synchrophasor measurement devices (PMU).
